Booloumba Creek
Power Curve Performance est 2013 goal and aim is to see people enjoying Australia. The Sunshine Coast is rich with close proximity destinations. Booloumba creek is one of the most popular of these natural beauties.
A short distance from the township of Kenilworth the drive is 99% sealed roads. Once you take the Booloumba creek turn off the picturesque drive will bring you to a one way bridge and high 4wd access sign only.
Return trip if you pass this sign you have gone too far
Patrick and Emma have two young daughters and for this weekend away we had to take two vehicles. The creek crossings are low and safe enough the majority of times that the vehicles were easy to conquer the crossing. The creek is still and water is not even up to the sills of the doors. Always remember to check creek crossings prior to crossing and remember crossing at times of or after heavy rain that nature can change the outcome of the safety of the river.
There was no hesitation or danger to vehicles with us having 3 Nissan Patrols and one Ford Ranger in our travel group for the weekend. Suspension, up to date servicing and a reliable tune make our families feel much safer when in an are where there is no phone reception.
Camping at Booloumba Creek
Boolomba Creek has 4 camp areas within walking distance of each other. Campground 4 is the only grounds where camping with a caravan or camping trailer is permitted. Booloumba Creek camp site3 is a park and walk your equipment in. Most parking sites are only a few meters to the site and about 10 meters to the creek its self.
Booloumba creek is part of the QLD national parks camping areas. All sites have flushing well maintained toilets. There are no shower facilities or power and all bookings must be made online prior to arrival. Rubbish and all items taken in must be removed. Fires are allowed and there are great fire rings as most Sunshine Coast national park areas seem to have.
Booloumba Creek is a perfect family destination. The photos and seeing this location the rocks and slight moss give off a perfect optical illusion of a clear blue stream. The water and area is clean and crisp and consistently running. Swimming at Booloumba creek is perfect as the main swimming hole is nice and deep for adults and the surrounding stream can be ankle deep in areas for young supervised children to confidently and safely play.
This weekends trip for us was a quick overnight, however, we feel relaxed, revitalised and better for the experience. We would highly recommend a visit to Booloumba creek.
Kenilworth
Back in town on our trip home on Sunday, we stopped in to experience the 1kg Kenilworth Bakery doughnut. We even bumped into a few friends who were taking on the challange for themselves. The Bakery has a great atmosphere and seeing others take on the challenges is entertaining and you find your self-cheering them on in support and ore of their effort. This weekend we just shared the bargain price of a $20 1kg doughnut between 8 of us.
Kenilworth Cheese Factory
Across from the Kenilworth park, the Kenilworth Cheese Factory is situated. With free tasting and ice cream, you can not surpass it is a quick and yummy destination. The Kenilworth Cheese Factory has been a top location and place to visit for many years. Recently changing ownership there are no evident changes to the quality of service and product. Maybe the new owners have some great new ideas in the works, however, for now, its still the same old great destination we have loved as locals for some time.
